Anti-Fraud Policy

In an era of increasing cyber fraud and credit card scams, LOCO Scooters is dedicated to safeguarding its assets and ensuring a secure shopping experience for its customers. To protect our inventory and mitigate fraudulent activities, we have implemented a robust anti-fraud policy. These measures are designed to protect both our business and our genuine customers from the financial impact of fraud.

Our Anti-Fraud Measures

  1. No Telephone Payments for High-Value Items

    • We do not accept payment over the phone for electric scooters or e-bikes. This policy is strictly enforced, with no exceptions. All orders must be placed online via our secure website. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to genuine customers.
  2. Fraud Detection via Stripe Payments

    • Our payment handler, Stripe Payments, monitors every online transaction for potential fraud. Stripe compares each transaction against its extensive database of previous transactions to identify suspicious activity. Transactions flagged as high-risk are brought to our attention for review.
  3. Verification for High-Risk Transactions

    • For any order flagged as high-risk, the recipient must provide the following before we release the item:
      • The physical card used to make the purchase, in the cardholder's name.
      • Photographic identification that matches both the name on the card and the recipient’s appearance.
    • Failure to provide these details will result in the transaction being presumed fraudulent, and the order will not be released.
  4. Multiple Payment Cards

    • If a customer attempts to use more than one credit or debit card to complete a single transaction, the above verification process (ID and physical bank card) will be required before delivery.
  5. Orders with Anonymously Registered Numbers

    • Orders associated with Tesco Mobile (or similarly anonymous) phone numbers will automatically trigger the above verification requirements due to the ease of obtaining these SIM cards without traceable identification.
  6. Reporting Fraudulent Activity

    • For transactions flagged as high-risk, where the customer cannot provide satisfactory evidence of their legitimacy, we will report the individual to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. This includes providing relevant details such as name, address, and IP address to assist with identification.

Our Commitment

Credit card fraud impacts everyone by increasing costs, as businesses are forced to absorb losses through higher pricing. LOCO Scooters is committed to protecting its genuine customers from these unnecessary costs while safeguarding its inventory from fraudulent activity. We take this responsibility seriously and will continue to implement stringent measures to combat fraud effectively.
